Gennaro Esposito

Chef at La Torre del Saracino ** (Vico Equense, Italy)

After giving shape to a cooking style based on flavour and Italian produce in France, Esposito has been a benchmark figure for the cuisine of the south of Italy for years.

After learning to love and respect the fresh produce growth on his family’s farm, Gennaro Esposito (Vico Equense, 1970) started from scratch in the kitchen working hard in restaurants on the Amalfi coast. He did internships with Gianfranco Vissani, and worked in the French kitchens of Alain Ducasse’s Louis XV in Montecarlo and the Plaza Athénée in Paris, where “I learned that trying to handle a combination of genius and carelessness doesn’t work in my profession”.

He went back to his home town and at the age of 22 set up his own restaurant, where he has had two Michelin stars since 2008. In 2014 he embarked on a new adventure, which he has now concluded, with the opening of the restaurant “Mammà” in Capri, which received a first Michelin Star the following year. In 2015, in Ibiza, he opened IT. Esposito was named "Best Italian Chef of the Year" by Identità Golose in 2011.
